My first batch of decorated sugar cookies!
These pictures were taken almost a year ago when I first got into cookie decorating. Back then I was assigned a special project where I got to pick a topic or occupation that interested me and learn more about the topic through a mentor. Looking back, the experience was very special and I got to learn many things about cookie decorating. When you read blogs or watch videos online about cookie decorating it seems very easy but as you see looking at the photographs below, it is easier said than done! I was not particularly happy with the outcome of these cookies but seeing that they were my first try I was excited to improve. Make sure you comment below if you have any questions about the design!
Outline the cookie with toothpaste consistency royal icing.
Use flood consistency icing to fill in the outlines. For this particular design, flood every other outline and wait for them to dry before flooding the others to give the design a three dimensional effect. (This process will really bring out the edges of the outline).
Do the same for the top of the cupcake.
Last but not least once the surface of the pink royal icing has dried, add dot sprinkles with different coloured royal icing. (10-15 second royal icing consistency).
